panaderias

so these are some of my favorite things about spain:

you walk inside and there are just bread things everywhere: baguettes, pastries, croissants (sp?), chocolate filled or custard filled or strawberry filled or any kind of deliciousness you want. as any good child of blake or dana murphy knows, our homemade rolls CANNOT be beat, but the bread from places like this comes pretty close: for 50-80 euro cents you can buy a freshly baked long baguette that is just absolutely filling and delicious. as a self-declared carb-ivore, the bread here fulfills all of my desires. plus, we have it with every meal, as much as you want (our family must seriously go through 2-3 baguettes a DAY, what with 3 grown kids living at home and the 3 of us students). love. it.

p.s. i think i have a sinus infection. i asked my roommate and she used to get them chronically and the areas over and under my eyes are hurting and i'm all stuffed up... luckily she's got some decongestant stuff so i think i should be fine. this is what i get for getting and staying wet in granada when it was fuhreezing... oops. i also got my roommate sick i think... double oops.

p.p.s. a relevant and entertaining quote from a letter from elder nathan oaks: "i don't know what else to say about europe. everything is smaller. except the death rate from smoking."
